Growing your business can seem like a difficult task in such a competitive, digital world. Whether you’re a small e-commerce company or a brick-and-mortar business, you can grow with a few simple steps.

Table of Contents

  • 1. Invest In Your Employees
  • 2. Utilize a Remote Workforce
  • 3. Eliminate Friction
  • 4. Streamline Customer Service
  • 5. Take Another Look At Your Website
  • 6. Build an Email List

1. Invest In Your Employees

Your employees are what make your business run smoothly. Without them, you wouldn’t be able to run at all. The first step that you can take when trying to grow your business is to invest in quality employees that want to see you succeed. While most people get jobs just for the money, you can find people who are passionate about what they do. With a simple background check performed during the recruiting process, you can learn a lot about your prospective employees.

You should also look into their previous job history, including any reasons for leaving positions and any breaks in employment, as these could give you the right insight into the type of person you might be hiring. Your employees are crucial to the growth of your business. They’re interacting with your customers and business partners on a daily basis, so it’s important to only invest in those that can help the business prosper.

2. Utilize a Remote Workforce

A remote workforce can help you keep costs down. Instead of having an office space, you can save thousands of dollars a month by hiring a virtual assistant or any number of remote workers to help you grow your business. You can also utilize contractors who work remotely and can help you save money.

These workers only charge for the work they’ve completed, unlike an office team who can get distracted while you’re paying them a salary and not accomplish as much work. Remote workers are typically more determined than those who work in offices because they have to work in order to make money. Through collaboration tools, your business can function and grow with a remote-only team.

3. Eliminate Friction

Friction in your business is anything that could be causing business processes and functions to slow down. For example, if a certain department has to approve a design for a new product before you tell the marketing department about it, you could be losing valuable time and delaying the launch of the product. Friction can also be used to mean a lack of communication and collaboration. Whether your teams are working remotely or together, it’s up to you to streamline daily functions so that there is no friction and everyone can go about their tasks without having to rely on others.

4. Streamline Customer Service

Your customers are what keeps you in business, and it’s up to you to keep them happy. Quality customer service is often a staple of a successful business because the better customer service you have, the more likely your customers are to continue using your products and services.

In fact, many consumers are willing to pay more for a product from a company that has a great customer service team. Make your customer service team easily accessible to your customers by utilizing technology so that they can get a response to their inquiries in real-time and from a real person.

5. Take Another Look At Your Website

Whether you sell products online or not, your website will be a determining factor in the success of your business. Conscious consumers often look at the website of a company before deciding to make a purchase, so it’s important that your website offers a great user experience and information about the products and services you offer.

If you don’t have a website, you’ll need to get one in order to grow your business. If you do have a website, but it isn’t performing as well as you had hoped, it may be time to hire an outside marketing agency to help you achieve the best results.

6. Build an Email List

Many small businesses don’t have a big in-house marketing team. Unfortunately, without the right marketing team, you can’t effectively grow your business. Whether you choose to work with a marketing agency is up to you, but you need to find a way to advertise your business to your customers. You can do so by building an email list and maximizing social media so that you can engage with your customers and make them feel appreciated by your business.
