You’re working out on the treadmill when you yank your earbuds out for about the fifth time. It may be time for you to switch to wireless earbuds. Your friends have been telling you how awesome AirPods are but they’re kind of expensive.

Are AirPods worth it for the amount of money you’ll pay on them? The answer depends on what functions you want out of a pair of earbuds. AirPods sync up seamlessly with other devices, Siri functions with them, and you don’t have to have an iPhone to use them.

These are only a few of the benefits. Keep reading to find out if investing in AirPods is right for you.

How Much Do They Cost?

Regular AirPods will cost you 160 dollars. Quite expensive for a pair of earbuds but you get the device and a carrying case that will charge them.

The sound quality you can get out of them is pretty crisp and they have a ton of other neat features that we’re going to go over.

Siri Will Work With Them

You’ll be able to use Siri commands with the AirPods. All you have to do is tap the top of the earbud. She’ll activate and you can tell her to do things like pausing your music, skip to another song, or increase the volume.

The only problem with using Siri with your AirPods is that it’s not discrete at all. You’ll have to shout commands in public. It can be embarrassing if you don’t like to bring attention to yourself.

Crisp Audio

The call audio from AirPods is nice and crisp. Anyone you talk to you will be able to hear you loud and clear and vice versa.

It’s a great hands-free way to make calls that don’t involve wires and the music quality is pretty top-notch as well.

It’s Easy to Connect Them to Other Devices

Want to know how to connect AirPods to MacBook? Open the charging case and tap the notification that pops up on the computer screen. It’s as simple as that.

Once you set up the AirPods on one device, they’ll automatically work on any other device that’s connected to your iCloud account.

No iPhone, No Problem

You don’t need an iPhone to use AirPods. There’s a small button on the back of the charging case that you can press to start the Bluetooth search function. Once they show up in your Android’s Bluetooth menu, you can connect them.

They do lose some of their functions when used with an Android device. For example, you won’t be able to check your battery life without downloading an app. You also won’t be able to get full use out of the playback capabilities.

Battery Life

If you’ve got a long flight ahead of you, you can rest easy knowing your AirPods will have enough battery life to pull you through it if you use them the right way.

If you use both of them throughout your flight, you will deplete the battery life pretty fast. Keep one AirPod in and when it starts to die, trade it out for the one still in the carrying case.

When you make the switch, the audio will seamlessly transfer from one Pod to the other. Your music will even pause while both AirPods are out of your ears.

Automatic Ear Detection

When you’re in a call and need to switch over to hands-free, all you have to do is put in one of your AirPods. It will automatically detect your ear and switch the call over.

To make sure this feature is active, go to the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone and click on the “i” symbol next to your AirPods. “Automatic Ear Detection” should be on by default but if it’s not, switch it on and back out of the menu.

Finding Your Lost AirPods

One concern many people have with AirPods is losing them. They are pretty small so you would think they would be hard to keep up with. Lucky for AirPod users, Apple thought of this problem.

There’s a find my AirPods feature on your iPhone. Open the “Find my iPhone” app and select your AirPods from the menu. Click on the play sound button.

Sound will be played through your AirPods. All You have to do is follow it to the source. This feature works no matter if you’ve lost one AirPod or both.

Use Your Air Pods as a Hearing Aid

If you’re hard of hearing or need to hear something in a huge crowd, you can use your AirPods to get a little listening boost. It takes a little set up to get started.

Are AirPods Worth it? You Be the Judge

Are AirPods Worth it? While it’s true you’ll spend about 160 dollars or more on your set, the number of cool features may make up for the expense. With the amazing audio quality, automatic ear detection, hearing aid capabilities, and voice command functions, they are unlike any other earbud on the market.
