7 Outdoor Marketing Tips To Help Your Business Grow

Just starting a business? Hoping to attract new customers? If so, you’re going to have to get out there and do some leg work; you’re going to have to market your business outside.

Wondering what this entails? Then read on. Here are 7 outdoor marketing tips to help your business grow.

1.Use Door Hangers

Regardless of where you live, there are sure to be thousands of homes in your near proximity. Our advice is to use these houses to your advantage.

How do you do this? The most typical way is to leave door hangers on doorknobs so that they’ll be discovered by homeowners. Sure, the majority of homeowners will throw these door hangers away after only a quick glance, but some homeowners will find interest in them, and could very well end up doing business with you.

You can have custom door hangers produced in bulk both online and in print shops. Print 500 to 1,000 and start moving. If you get even 1 customer, it could make a huge difference for your business.

2.Plant Banner Flags

Another option is to plant outdoor banner flags. These are flags that stake into the ground and which possess a long, vertical appearance. They draw plenty of attention and provide tons of space upon which to advertise.

Banner flags are best used in front of physical properties. They attract eyes to the property itself, allowing passersby to stop on a whim if they are, indeed, interested.

There are all sorts of phrases that you can print on banner flags. You could print “SALE” or “Barbecue Here” or “Grand Opening” or otherwise. Anything that will attract attention (within reason) is a viable option.

3. Put an Advertisement on Your Vehicle

If you want to gain mass exposure for your brand in just a short amount of time, you should consider placing an advertisement on your vehicle. This way, any stranger that you drive by will learn of your business and be given the option to contact you.

The more you drive around with this advertisement, and the more times people see it, the more familiar they’ll become with it, and the more likely they’ll be to do business with you.

Make sure that you have an attractive logo and make sure to post your business’s full name and phone number. You might also want to include a website and a location, if applicable.

You can order custom car magnets online and at print shops in your area. Find a good rate and adorn as many cars as possible. The results will start rolling in shortly.

Note, you might also consider paying others to do this for you. The more advertisements you have out there, the better off you’ll be.

4.Set up on the Sidewalk

Sidewalks are great for advertising, as they’re almost perpetually filled with a substantial number of people. As such, if you want to reach potential customers quickly, you’re advised to set up on the sidewalk.

Find a suitable spot and set up a table. Post a sign in front of the table that advertises your business. Then, bring along some knick-knacks (like pens or lanyards) that you can hand out to passersby.

Many passersby will take your knick-knacks and move on. However, others might strike up a conversation with you, giving you a chance to sell your business and its products and/or services.

Note, to do this, you might need a permit from the city. Google “sidewalk permit [name of your city]” and see what you can find. If it yields no information, call your city hall.

5.Post Stickers

Another option is to post stickers (holographic, die-cut sticker etc) in random places throughout town. Note, though, that if you’re not careful, you could end up posting illegally. As such, whenever you post, you’re advised to ask for permission.

In a general sense, public areas are out of bounds. For instance, you won’t be allowed to post stickers on telephone poles and street signs, at least not legally.

However, other businesses and homeowners might allow you to post a sticker on their property. Ask around and see if you can find any takers. Remember: this is a numbers game; the more postings you get, the more exposure you’ll receive.

6.Hire a Street Team

If you have the budget, you might consider hiring a street team. This is a team of people that can walk around your town and city and converse with people in the area. In doing so, they could sell the merits of your business and bring in new customers.

If you’re going to do this, it’s wise to print up some brochures or flyers. Give these to the members of your street team and have them distribute them to anyone they see.

Again, this is a numbers game. The more flyers that are distributed, the better chance you have at bringing in new customers, although it’s still important you put in the effort to make a great flyer that increases effectiveness.

7.Shell Out for a Billboard

There’s no doubt: billboards are expensive. However, there is a reason for that: they’re effective. After all, no outdoor marketing material offers more exposure than a gigantic sign that stands over the city and allows for 30 seconds to a minute of car-borne visibility.

Commuters will see your sign on the way to work every morning, thus becoming more and more familiar with your business. This familiarity will breed trust, which will eventually lead to increased business.
