7 Shocking Video Game Plot Twists You Didn’t Realize Were Foreshadowed

Introduction

Plot twists have long been used to create shock and surprise, and they’ve evolved into a terrific narrative technique for keeping viewers guessing.

While some surprises are too obvious to function, those that are correctly predicted and make sense within the tale may be extremely memorable and powerful.

Many of the most well-known story twists come from film or television, but there have also been remarkable twists in video games.

Several video game twists have surprised players over the years, either by altering the game’s universe or by revealing the protagonist’s actions in a new light. You can download these games from this website and find out what we’re talking about.

1: Batman: Arkham Knight—Arkham KNight’s Real Identity

Batman must defend Arkham from Scarecrow, who is being influenced in the shadows by an evil force known as the Arkham Knight in Batman: Arkham Knight.

When Batman tries to save Commissioner Gordon from the Arkham Knight’s hands, he finds that former Robin (Jason Todd) is Arkham Knight, and Batman thought he was dead.

This is a major plot surprise that has been teased throughout the game

Several passages, like the restaurant scene and the Arkham Knight’s entrance, allude to a previous relationship with the Caped Crusader.

2: Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic—Darth Vader’s Real Identity

The tale of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic follows an aged Jedi named Revan as he battles a Sith lord named Darth Malak.

When it’s discovered that Revan is truly Darth Revan, a Sith lord who had his memories wiped, everything is turned upside down.

This is a significant twist that drastically affects the game’s environment, and it’s one that’s been hinted at throughout the game.

Near the beginning of the game, Carth Onasi notes that the Force has the ability to erase memories and destroy identities, which is a significant foreshadowing moment.

3: Red Dead Redemption 2—Arthur’s Health Condition

Throughout Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur becomes slower and skinnier as the game progresses.

Initially appearing to be a ploy to demonstrate the impact of the story’s events on Arthur, it is revealed in Chapter 5 that Arthur has developed TB.

Arthur caught TB in this wonderfully realistic Red Dead Redemption sequel following a seemingly inconsequential task in Chapter 2 when a sick guy coughs blood in his face

The game’s major message of the fragility of criminal life is reinforced by this seemingly little action, which leads to Arthur’s death in the conclusion.

4: Bioshock—’Would You Kindly.’

The main character Jack is offered various goals as he travels around the underwater metropolis of Rapture in the first Bioshock game, with requests frequently utilizing the phrase ‘would you kindly.’

Atlas had been using this term to induce Jack to assassinate Andrew Ryan, the creator of Rapture, as revealed in the climax.

This twist works because it makes intriguing use of gaming psychology.

Players have been following Atlas’ orders until that point in the plot; thus, when Jack’s mind control is revealed, players feel the same way he does.

5: Fallout 4—Shaun’s Whereabouts

The major plot of Fallout 4 revolves around the quest for Shaun, the main character’s son, who was abducted by mercenaries from the mysterious Institute.

The Institute’s Director is revealed to be Shaun at the conclusion of the game, who appears to have forgotten about his father.

While there isn’t much foreshadowing in the game’s tale, players simply need to pay attention to the lyrics of the songs that play throughout the character-building procedure.

Lyrics like “friends all over, though I’m trying to forget about, how much I care for you” hint to what’s to come, even if they’re played at random.

6: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey—Cult Of Cosmos Leader

In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Kassandra begins to discover more about the Cult of Kosmos’ mystery leader as she assassinates its followers.

After she rises to the top, she discovers that the cult’s leader is Aspasia, who has been manipulating the cult’s less attractive members into being slaughtered in order to construct an all-powerful society.

The real identity of the Cult’s leader is revealed throughout the game through numerous pieces of evidence Kassandra can uncover after assassinating high-ranking Cult members like Deimos.

7: Bioshock Infinite—Booker Is Comstock

Booker DeWitt spends the majority of Bioshock Infinite trying to save Elizabeth from the wicked Comstock, the dictator of the floating metropolis of Columbia.

Booker is revealed to be an alternative version of Comstock when Elizabeth takes them to numerous parallel realities to take down Comstock.

Though it may not be as startling as the original game’s reveal, this one is successful because of the emotions involved.
