Make Your Life Easier With IoT

Internet of Things (IoT) is nothing new; most of you might be familiar with the concept. For those of you who need a little refresher, IoT is where you have multiple devices, gadgets, and appliances connected to the internet so you can monitor, control, or view the status of those remotely with the help of an app or a dashboard.

It essentially revolves around connectivity and integration of different devices to create a seamless experience for the user, i.e., you!

As we witness the new web3 unfolding before our eyes, the IoT is also being integrated into our lives, redefining the age-old methods and conventions. There are several instances and aspects where IoT makes your lives easier and more fluent. We will look at some of them and see how these integrations affect the perspective and productivity of our daily lives.

IoT in Daily Lives

Let’s look at some of the instances where IoT can make our lives easier.

Convenience in shopping

Imagine shopping? It’s what people used to do when they want stuff, they go out and into physical shops to buy things. Nowadays, your search, click, and things just arrive at your doorstep within 2-3 business days!

Now imagine you running out of milk and your refrigerator orders it for you. As smart appliances are getting more and more popular, all you need to do is add your Amazon account and it will identify groceries and food that you’re running low off and order it for you. Less hassle, less forgetfulness.

The Convenience of a Smart Home

You walk in through your door after a long day at work and lights turn on, your favorite music starts playing, and the thermostat automatically aligns itself to your preferred temperature. Sounds too good to be true. It’s already a reality in novel homes and these features are rolling out to normal households as well. With lights and speakers that have smart connectivity and an untethered connection to the internet, your house can behave the way you want when you are in and automatically shut down when you leave.

The Convenience of Healthcare and Fitness

With wearables like smartwatches and Fitbit, our fitness info is being constantly monitored and recorded. These, combined with our medical history can help predict heart attacks, panic episodes, dangerous levels of blood pressure and sugar, sodium deficiency, etc. You must’ve heard of the news when an Apple watch predicted a heart attack before it even happened and alerted the user to save his life. Though it sounds like a futuristic scenario where our healthcare is taken care of by intelligent systems, it really is not. We are already living in a world where IoT can help fight the sudden onset of diseases and contact emergency services.

Safety and Security

As the systems are becoming more and more connected and integrated, the areas of vulnerabilities also increase. The fear of hacking is real and serious enough that people are also investing in backups like GPS tracker for cars and offline security systems for their homes. These are helpful, and they do bring in a certain assurance when it comes to protecting your valuables and loved ones. So, moving forward, we might see a combination of these two being used simultaneously for maximum efficiency.

IoT is here to stay, and our lives are forever changed because of it. The adaptation might take longer but IoT will play a major role in defining the lifestyle and social interactions going forward. We can be cautious and optimistic about the control and connectivity and take measures to adapt to the changing scenario without being left behind.
