Introduction: What is a Quad Small Form Factor?

A Quad Small Form Factor (qsfp) is a small form factor pluggable module that has four lanes of 100Gbps or four lanes of 25Gbps. The qsfp was originally developed by the InfiniBand Trade Association in 2010 as a standard for 100 gigabit Ethernet over copper cabling. The qsfp was later adopted by the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) in 2011 as an optical transceiver module for data rates of up to 400 gigabits per second. QSFP has a data rate of 25Gbps and it can be used in a variety of applications such as 100G QSFP28, 40G QSFP+, 400G QSFP-DD.

How Does QSFPS Work?

The QSFP28 supports four lanes of NRZ format and has an input clock frequency range of 1 MHz to 25 MHz. The principle of QSFPS is to use the differential signal transmission mode to transmit data between two devices. The first device has 4x25g ports, while the second device has 4x10g ports. The first device sends differential signals to the second device through four lanes of NRZ, and then the second device receives them and converts them into NRZ signals with different frequencies.

The QSFP28 is a high-speed, high-density, low-power, and low-cost parallel optical switch. It can be used in the following applications:
